“Diana: Her True Story–in Her Own Words” by Andrew Morton
Perhaps the most famous biography of Princess Diana thanks to its splashy 1992 debut (and the cooperation of the royal via secret phone conversations with journalist Morton), the book covers the juiciest of topics — her unhappy marriage, her relationship with the Queen and her place inside the Royal Family, and more. In this updated version published 20 years after Diana’s death, Morton revisited his conversations with the Princess and put them into the context of her legacy. The book also served as the inspiration for the Broadway musical “Diana,” which was set to open in March but was indefinitely postponed. The plan is for the production to eventually premiere on Netflix. Queen Elizabeth II Paper Dolls
This book of beautiful paper dolls by Eileen Rudisill Miller comes out on Dec. 16 and features two different dolls — one of Elizabeth as a young woman and one as an elder monarch — with dozens of her famous royal outfits. (There’s also a doll and wardrobe for Prince Philip, but no offense, his fashion just isn’t quite as fun.)
“The Queen”
Peter Morgan’s Oscar-nominated 2006 screenplay for the film that won Helen Mirren her (as of now) only Academy Award is, in a sense, the precursor to the work he would do with “The Crown.” Stephen Frears directs the film, which follows the conflict among the Queen, the Royal Family, and the Prime Minister in the wake of Princess Diana’s death.

“The Diana Chronicles” by Tina Brown
Brown was a personal friend of Diana and examines how the women who surrounded Diana ultimately shaped her. From the official description: “Diana’s sexually charged mother, her scheming grandmother, the stepmother she hated but finally came to terms with, and bad-girl Fergie, her sister-in-law, who concealed wounds of her own. Most formidable of them all was her mother-in-law, the Queen, whose admiration Diana sought till the day she died. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate ‘other woman’ into this combustible mix, and it’s no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.”
